The 1100 Club was founded in 2001 by a small group of loyal WVU alumni and friends who possessed a common desire to provide Mountaineer football with the extra resources necessary to successfully recruit "blue-chip" student-athletes at the regional and national level. Through their vision and direction, 1100 Club membership has grown to several hundred members who give a minimum of $1,100 annually to support this pursuit of excellence. In addition, more than a dozen members have made the generous commitment of $11,000, as lifetime members of the Club. All funds are received and processed through the Mountaineer Athletic Club to help offset the escalating costs specifically associated with airplane travel during NCAA-sanctioned football recruiting periods.
Support of the 1100 Club allows Mountaineer football to recruit and compete for “blue-chip” student-athletes and provide them with all the tools necessary to be successful once they arrive at WVU. All 1100 Club members receive an annual recognition gift and interaction opportunities with coach Dana Holgorsen and the Mountaineer football staff. Members of the 1100 Club can take pride in their involvement, knowing it has a true impact on the quest for BIG 12 championships, bowl championships, national prominence and winning within the rules.
