In addition to funding scholarships for WVU student-athletes, Mountaineer Athletic Club members play a pivotal role in the enhancement, construction and maintenance of first-class athletic facilities and in the establishment and operation of key service and support functions for the athletic department.
For more than three decades Mountaineer Athletic Club members have led the way to success for many capital projects undertaken by WVU Intercollegiate Athletics. Significant private support through major gifts is the lifeblood of Mountaineer sports and is absolutely essential to the long-term success of our teams and programs. Similar to a private business, WVU Intercollegiate Athletics operates solely from the revenue it generates.
Rising scholarship costs, escalating travel expenses, expensive facility issues, and the investment required to find and retain quality coaches, are the challenges we face in maintaining WVU’s position as one of premier college athletic programs in the nation. Mountaineer Athletic Club members who contribute through major gifts are recognized in the All-American Society. All major gifts and pledges to WVU Intercollegiate Athletics — above and beyond those for football and basketball ticket priorities — that match or exceed $50,000, qualify for All-American Society status. All-American Society donors are invited to exclusive events with Mountaineer coaches and administrators throughout the year and are recognized on campus in various other ways.
In addition, All-American Society donors are recognized in MAC and departmental publications and listings. All-American Society gifts do not offer football and basketball season ticket priorities; although they may have an impact on season ticket seating and parking locations should donors also participate in the Mountaineer Athletic Club's annual giving program. For more information on the All-American Society, as well as WVU's football and basketball season ticket priority program, contact the Mountaineer Athletic Club at (800) 433-2072.
