The WVU men’s and women's basketball programs are historically among the best in the BIG EAST and in the nation.

Mountaineer Basketball has a tradition of greatness beginning with players like Jerry West, Georgeann Wells, “Hot Rod” Hundley, Olivia Bradley, Rod Thorn and Rosemary Kosiorek. This tradition has continued with the likes of Kevin Pittsnogle, Kate Bulger, Mike Gansey, Yolanda Paige, Darris Nichols, Olayinka Sanni, Joe Alexander, Meg Bulger and Head Coaches Mike Carey and Coach Bob Huggins.

There is no doubt that West Virginia University has a well earned Basketball Legacy.

The BIG EAST Conference is recognized as one of the most competitive leagues in the nation. In order to continue to compete for BIG EAST and national prominence, the Basketball Legacy Fund was created to support your WVU men’s and women's basketball programs. By supporting the Basketball Legacy Fund, you ensure that Mountaineer basketball’s proud tradition will continue well into the future.

The Basketball Legacy Fund has been created to offset two ever increasing costs associated with top flight basketball programs: recruiting and team travel. All funds in support of Basketball Legacy will go directly towards ensuring that Coach Huggins, Coach Carey and their respective staffs have the necessary resources to recruit top tier basketball student-athletes to WVU. Funds will also help support chartered team air travel throughout the season. Chartered air travel has become a necessity with the rigors of classroom and competition schedules coupled with the inconveniences and burden associated with commercial air travel.

New Giving Level for 2010 - Legacy Membership

The MAC is offering a new membership level for the Basketball Legacy Fund. This level will be set at an annual gift of $1,000. This is a great value that allows you to join the Basketball Legacy Fund and receive all the benefits including a quarterly newsletter, apparel item, coaching staff interaction opportunities, donor recognition and other special benefits. A Lifetime Legacy membership is $12,000

Giving Levels and Benefits National Champion Membership - $100,000 ($20,000 annually over 5 years) Final Four Membership - $50,000 ($10,000 annually over 5 years) Sweet 16 Membership - $25,000 ($5,000 annually over 5 years) Lifetime Legacy 1000 Membership - $12,000 Legacy 1,000 - $1,000 Benefits: Quarterly Newsletter, apparel item, coaching staff interaction opportunities, donor recognition and other special benefits.
